Bengaluru: Students lined up outside the BMTC office at Majestic for their daily bus pass on Saturday.

The board had to reject 80,000 out of the more than 1.5 lakh online applications due to various reasons including incomplete information, improper pictures, selfies, videos, and even group clicks.

The BMTC said that the guidelines have been mentioned clearly in the online application system. Students can apply for a smart card by filling in the e-form or by applying through the respective educational institutions.

However, despite all this, hundreds of selfies, some group shots, some were selfies taken inside park or a room with no clear visibility. Instead of the stipulated photograph size of 1 MB, many were big images of up to 4MB. “In some cases, the students even uploaded selfie videos,” said a BMTC official.
