Gangambike Mallikarjun is the new Bengaluru Mayor

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was held at the BBMP Council hall today.
Congress candidate Gangambike Mallikarjun has been elected as the mayor and the JD(S)’s Ramila Umashankar was elected deputy mayor. By gaining 130 votes from the council, Gangambike – corporator from Jayanagar Ward no 153 – won the Mayor’s post.
This time the position for Mayor was reserved for women candidates. The party decided to go with Gangambike, a corporator from Jayanagar, following a meeting on Thursday evening.
