Police seize Annabhagya rice being transported illegally

Karkala: About 50 tonnes of rice which was being transported illegally was seized in a swift action by the police on Monday, October 15th. The rice was meant for distribution under Annabhagya scheme to ration card holders.
The police have also detained two suspects and confiscated the auto that was being used for transporting the rice.
On receiving definite information that Annabhagya rice was being transported illegally, the police conducted the operation. The rice was being sold from society belonging to Jodukatte Jeevandas Jain to grocery merchants in Car Street, Karkala, it is gathered.
