WGSHA to hold CNE on World Diabetes Day

Manipal: M.Sc. Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, Department of Allied Hospitality Studies, Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), MAHE, Manipal will conduct a Continuing Nutrition Education (CNE) titled “An Interprofessional Approach to Diabetes Care – Every Family’s Concern”, on November 14 from 9 am to 5 pm at Dr.TMA Pai Auditorium KMC here.
The CNE is being held on the occasion of World Diabetes Day (WDD) on November 14. The theme for World Diabetes Day this year, according to the International Diabetes Federation is, “The Family and Diabetes”.
Dr.PLNG Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Quality Assurance) MAHE, Manipal, will be the chief guest. Chef K Thirugnanasambantham, Principal, WGSHA, Manipal will preside over the inaugural function.
“The objectives of CNE include raising awareness on the impact and importance of healthy diet and lifestyle in prevention and management of diabetes and,to promote the role of the family in the management, care, prevention, and education of diabetes,” said Mrs Meenakshi Garg, the organizing chairperson.
The panel of speakers include Dr.Meenakshi Bajaj (RD), presently a dietitian at Tamil Nadu Government, Multi Super Speciality Hospital, Chennai; Dr. S Shobana , Senior Scientist- Food Research, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai; Dr.Sudha Vidhyasagar, Professor, Department of Medicine, KMC, Manipal; Dr. Bhamini Krishna Rao, Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, SOAHS, Manipal and our alumnus, Ms. Shona Prabhu, a sports nutritionist and founder of “NutrifyMyDiet”.
