Farm loan wavier; Registration begins in Udupi

Udupi: The process for registering farmers name to avail the farm loan wavier for the farm loans taken from commercial banks has begun since Dec 13th and will be conducted till Jan 10th, stated the Additional Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari at a press meet here.

Rs 258 crore loan wavier

There are 4,648 farmers in the district, eligible to avail the facility of farm loan wavier from commercial banks. Also there are 24,232 eligible to avail farm loan wavier from the Primary Agricultural Finance Co-operative Society and Central Cooperative Banks and thus, altogether Rs 258 crore worth of farm loan will be waivered.

Protection to sand mining

Responding to the question of the media, ADC Vidya Kumari said that those who had availed the permit for sand mining have not yet started the work. One permit holder in Uppuru has come forward to start sand mining. On Thursday there was demand for police protection for sand mining and the protection will be provided to them.

To the question by reporters on the complaints regarding the fear of loss due to the possible lack of sand quantity than what is necessary, by those who have already been given the permit for sand mining from sand blocks, the ADC replied that nobody has given any information about that. if there is problem like this, it needs to be informed to a committee of 7 members. Then a different sand block or any ther essential action can be taken up, she informed.
