God willing I never got to attend Tipu Jayanti celebrations, says Madhwaraj

Udupi: A clipping of Udupi district former in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj stating that perhaps God had not destined him to be a part of the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, organised by the state government has been going viral on the social media.
Madhwaraj made the remark while speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of St. Peter’s Church in Petri, near Brahmavara on December 10. In the clipping, he can be heard saying, “According to history, the Petri Church had been rebuilt after it was initially razed by Tipu’s battalion. The decision of the government to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi can be right or wrong, but God willing I never got to attend the events.”
Though the decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi had been taken by the then Siddaramaiah-led government, Madhwaraj had never voiced his support to the decision and had even absented himself from the celebrations, organized by the district administration between 2015 and 2017.
