DCM orders to close illegal commercial setups in residential areas

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has directed the officials to take strict actions against illegal commercial establishments in residential areas across the city.
On Tuesday, January 8 at a meeting with officials from various civic agencies like Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Parameshwara told instructed the officials to take stern action against the footpath encroachment, beggars and hawkers at traffic signals, clearing of illegal OFC cables, plastic ban enforcement, industrial contamination of lakes, strict enforcement of smoking ban, and violators who convert basement parking space into shops.
He further informed that though plastic is strictly banned, few small industries continue to manufacture plastic and ordered the officials to take note of this.
Industries which does not follow the rule are letting out sewage water into lakes must be shut down with help from police, he added.
