Woman from Sagar dies

Udupi/Hebri: For the first time an elderly woman has succumbed to Kyanasur Forest Disease also known as monkey disease at Manipal hospital.  The deceased elderly is identified as Laxmi Devi (82) from Aralagodu in Sagar taluk of Shimoga.

Till now, around 100 people have got admitted to the hospital and all of them are from areas in the vicinity of Sagar. There is report that, of the admitted patients, 40 people have been infected by KFD while the remaining 59 patients are not carrying the infection of the disease. The report of one patient is yet to be availed. 76 persons have received treatment, been cured and discharged. 23 patients are undergoing treatment.

Hebri Kucchuru: Monkey carcass found

A carcass of a monkey was found from Hebri on Saturday and another was carcass found at Betageri Amasebail village in Kundapur taluk on Sunday. Post the autopsy of the carcass at Hebri, samples were sent to Shimoga for testing. A number of monkey carcasses have been found in six places within Udupi district so far, out of which viruses were found in eight monkeys. However, no suspected KFD patient from the district has been admitted into any of the hospitals here till date.

Monkey death in Belandur

Savanur: A monkey carcass has been found in the farm of Narnappa Gowda, at Konkya in Belandur village of Puttur taluk. On receiving information, the health and forest department officials visited the location and carried inspection. The carcass was burnt after post mortem. Samples of the monkey have been sent to the lab for test.

Sagar: Four more have fever

Four more persons have started showing symptoms of monkey fever on Sunday and have been admitted at Maipal hospital here.
