Malpe: The possible remains of ‘Suvarna Tribhuja’, the deep sea trawler which went missing along with is crew of 7 fishermen near Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra, has been found by an Indian Navy ship that was on the lookout for the missing trawler. However the discovered remnants are yet to be confirmed if they belong to the missing deep sea trawler.

The staff of the navy ship has confirmed that it has found an object 22 meters long which presumed to be a boat and are in the process of confirming it, informed sources form the police. 3D mapping technology is being used to confirm if the finding is indeed the wreckage of the missing deep sea trawler ‘Suvarna Tribhuja’.

Possibility of kidnapping

Initially, when the trawler went mysteriously missing along with its crew of 7 fishermen, it was presumed that the fishermen might have been kidnapped and hence the police of Karnataka, Maharashtra, coast guard and the navy conducted operations throughout the coast of Maharashtra. When no leads were found in this course of investigation, the officials felt that the possibility of the fishermen being kidnapped were slim. Later, it was presumed that the boat might have sunk and since the last two weeks, operations are being conducted to locate the wreckage on the sea bed.

Diesel leak

In the backdrop of a report that diesel leak was found at Panaji Baitul in Goa, a search operation was conducted here by more than 100 deep sea trawlers from Malpe to locate the wreckage by dragging the anchor along the sea bed, but to no avail.
