Car topples: one killed, five grievously injured

Bantwal: In a tragic accident, a person lost his life while five others of the same family sustained grievous injuries after the car they were travelling went out of the control of its driver and fell into a roadside ditch along the national highway near the main circle at B C Road on Sunday, March 24.

The deceased is identified as K M Shariff, a resident of Bajal in Mangaluru. His wife Jameela, and children, Safnaz, Safa, Safwan and Safreena suffered grievous injuries.

The car was being driven by Safwan, elder son of Shariff and the family was returning after participating in the house warming ceremony of a relative at Puttur when the accident occurred.

The cause for the accident remains to be ascertained and the injured have been hospitalised. Bantwal traffic police SI Manjunath, ASI Kutti and staff rushed to the location and carried investigation.
