Defence minister offers prayers at Sri Krishna Math

Udupi: Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman offered her prayers at the Sri Krishna Math during her visit to the district here on Tuesday, March 26 morning. She also sought the blessings of Paryaya Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Math.

Sitharaman was accompanied by Sitting BJP MP and candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Raghupati Bhat, BJP leaders, Uday Kumar Shetty, Shreesha Nayak, Paryaya Math public relations officer, Shreesha Bhat and others.

Nirmala later visited Paryaya Swamiji and requested him to offer prayers to Lord Krishna that the BJP-government led by Narendra Modi gets re-elected to power and for the welfare of the country. Further she mentioned that she would be participating in the Brahmakalashotsava ceremony of the Math which is planned to be held shortly.

Meanwhile Swamiji expressed his desire felicitate Wing Commander Abhinandan, for his bravery at Sri Krishna Math here and urged the defence minister to convince the defense ministry for the same.

In response, Sitharaman asked Swamiji to send a formal letter to the ministry of defence and assured of making suitable arrangements for Abhinandan’s visit if there are no legal hurdles.
