Firing at beauty parlour incident

Kasaragod: A police team of the crime branch has arrested three persons in connection to an incident of firing at a beauty parlour owned by cine actress, Leena Maria Paul, in Kochi. The arrested are said to be the accomplices of underworld fugitive Ravi Poojary.

The accused are identified as Bilal and Vipin from Ernakulam, and Altaf from Aluva. Of the arrested, Bilal faces five cases, Vipin and Altaf face a number of criminal cases.

The police inform that the arrested are assumed to have connection with Ravi Poojary and were apparently hired by a gang based in Kasaragod for the task, they said.

According to the police, the gang had hired the accused for a price of Rs 1 crore to fire at the beauty parlour. However, during investigation it was revealed that of the promised amount, the accused had only received Rs 30,000 in cash so far.

The incident

On December 15, 2018, a gang of three arrived in a motor bike and fired at Nile Beauty Parlour owned by well-known actress, Leena Maria Paul at Kochi. Later, a caller identifying himself as Ravi Poojary, had called a Malayalam channel taking responsibility for the attack.

Questioning

Interrogation of the accused revealed that the plan was to frighten the actress and make her pay Rs 25 crore. They also informed that they had visited the town on several occasion to settle the price for the act.
