Three killed, several injured after bus overturns in Sagar

Shivamogga: Three persons were killed and 20 others sustained injuries after the bus in which they were travelling toppled at Uloor Cross here in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Keerthana (12), Sujatha (40), both residents of Honnavar and Mohammad Yaseen bin Babu (16) from Chitradurga.

The bus was headed towards Bengaluru when it overturned at Uloor Cross of Sagar Taluk here. As news of the accident spread, locals rushed to the spot and helped rescue the persons from within the bus. The injured were later shifted to nearby hospitals.

According to few reports, the bus is said to have toppled due to overloading and this was the third instance of toppling within a months time.

The bus was later moved with the help of JCB and traffic was cleared.
