Vehicular ban on Agumbe Ghat extended till May 15

Udupi/Shivamogga: The ban on the movement of vehicles along the Agumbe ghat road in the Shivamogga-Udupi districts has been extended till May 15.
An order to this effect was issued by Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner K A Dayananda since the repair works, undertaken by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is not yet complete. Originally the vehicular movement on Agumbe Ghat was banned between April 1 and 30 in order to facilitate the road repair works.
Regular buses, jeeps, vans, LCV and two-wheelers coming from Shivamogga and moving towards Udupi and Mangaluru have to take a deviation at Tirthahalli and pass Koppa, Sringeri, Malaghat, Karkala and reach Udupi on NH 169 while heavy motor vehicles have to move via Tirthahalli, Mastikatte, Hosangadi, Siddapura, Kundapura and reach Udupi on SH 52.
