Haleangadi: An accidental fire broke out at a hill in Koluvailu area near Haleangadi which was doused by the combine effort of the fire personnel and the locals here.
On Thursday afternoon, a dry coconut leaf fell on to the power cables from a transformer, caught fire and a spark from the flame fell on to the bone dry grass in the vicinity setting the hill on fire. Haleangadi GP member Vinod Kumar Koluvailu informed Mangaluru fire brigade immediately. Meanwhile, the members of the local Haleangadi friends club and the localites attempted to contain the fire.
Speaking of the incident Mr Kuma said, bent road roads like Koluvailu is an example for a fire engine getting stuck along the road during an emergency and therefore the road must be developed similar to the development of Halengadi market, he urged.
Vehicle gets stuck
The turn from Haleangadi market to Koluvailu road is very narrow an hence, the fire engine got stuck near the turning leading to disruption of traffic movement for some time. However, the engine was able to make the turn soon, after multiple attempts of going font and back.
