Road turns dangerous due to waste water spilt from garbage trucks

Vamanjoor: The road leading to the dump yard at Pachanady has been laced by waste water spilt by garbage making the road dangerous especially for two wheelers which face a real danger of skidding and falling.

Garbage brought in vehicles is dumped at the waste management unit at Pachanady. Since these vehicles are not covered that spread the offensive smells they carry as they pass by. Besides, the water mixed with the essence of wet garbage is spilt on the road making the road dangerous enough for two-wheeler riders to slip and fall. The persistent spilling of waste laced water has essentially created a black layer above the road. If water falls on this layer, it turns sticky and attempts to bring down any two-wheeler attempting to pass over it.

Already there have been multiple instances where cars and rickshaws coming in considerable speeds have skid and fallen. Toppling of bikes and two-wheelers here is a more regular phenomenon here. Hence, one is compelled to travel at slow speeds and with much care along this treacherous stretch. A mishap is guaranteed if one increases speed considering the road to be wide enough.

Since the vehicles transporting the garbage are transporting it without any cover, the waste water spills on to the road. Besides, the stink of the breaking down waste in the trucks spreads along the route of the vehicle. Therefore action must be taken to warn the owners of the vehicles transporting the garbage, demand the locals.

Dumping yard is still billowing smoke

Even though the fire at the dumping yard has been brought under control for now, the smoke billowing from here continues. Since mud is being dumped on the burning garbage, the chemicals in the garbage are reacting and the smoke is escaping from the top of the dumped mud. During the nights, its intensity increases. There was more smoke on Tuesday as well, inform the locals.

Situation will worsen if it rains

During the monsoon, since the water mixes with sticky waste, the risk of traversing the road only amplifies. The road which is already sticky due to the spilt waste water will spread to even more areas during the monsoon. This will only worsen the situation.
