Candidates did not violate MCC: DC

Udupi: even though campaigning for Lok Sabha election was occurring with full might in the district, no candidate has violated the election Model Code of conduct (MCC). No incident has occurred which could have harmed the people’s peace. The teams created for the effective implementation of MCC have worked properly, said Hepsiba Rani Korlapati, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi speaking at a press meet on Saturday.
The voting machines of the five Legislative Assembly constituencies in the district will be kept in a strong room under tight security at the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Manipal, informed the DC.
The voting machines of Mudigere, Chikkamagaluru, Tarekere, Sringeri Legislative Assembly constituencies will be handed over to the district Election Officer of Chikkamagaluru district.
First in C-Vigil
Udupi district has achieved the first position in the state for quick resolving of all the complaints received through C-Vigil app. Altogether 273 complaints were registered in connection to the violation of MCC of which, 225 complaints have been resolved and 48 are were unwanted complaints.
The election has been made environmentally friendly. Plastic free system was employed at polling booths, she said.
1950 toll free number facility had been created to provide free information to the voters. This will work in the future as well, she informed.
The DC expressed her gratitude to all the government officials, bank, police, CRPF staffs, candidates and the media for cooperating in the peaceful conducting of the elections.
