Mangaluru: District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai on Monday said that he will continue to fight communal elements and he was not likely to be deterred by death threats. He was reacting to a viral video of few Bajrang Dal activists sloganeering for his beheading.
Speaking to reporters here, Rai said that he was ready to sacrifice his life if it will end communal disharmony.
“If chopping my head will help in restoring communal harmony in the district, then let them do so. I am not scared and will not run away. Those wishing to behead me can come to District Congress Committee office,” he said.
Strict action must be taken against people who are resorting to hate politics and trying to create fear in the minds of people, he added.
In the video, a Bajrang Dal activist can be heard saying, “If Mithun Rai dares to trouble Bajrang Dal, then we will break his leg and hand. If needed, we will chop his head also…” Two others who were with him are also seen threatening Rai.
Meanwhile the police, acting on a complaint filed by Rai arrested the three Bajrang Dal activists – Nishanth, Sachin and Karthik on Monday.
