Injured wild tusker dies

Mangaluru: A Forest Department official informed that the injured tusker which was wandering in the reserve forest area near Kukke Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada for more than 20 days died on Wednesday.
As per the sources, the elephant, aged about 18, was found dead near Balugodu. Its ivories were removed, post-mortem was carried out and the carcass burnt later.
He said that the tusker had an injury on its left foreleg. Hence, it was finding it difficult to move about. Forest Department officials had treated it on May 10 after mildly tranquillising it.
