HDK condemns attack on Dalit man

Bengaluru: Condemning the attack on Dalit man in Gundlupet town Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said that such incidents as inhuman.
Kumaraswamy in a tweet said, “The attack on a Dalit man in Gundlupet Taluk and parading him naked was very inhuman. I have ordered an investigation in the case and has instructed police to initiate strict action against the accused. It is unfortunate that caste differentiation still exists in our society. We should stand up against it.”
ಗುಂಡ್ಲಪೇಟೆ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಲಿತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಬೆತ್ತಲೆ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅಮಾನವೀಯ. ಈ ಕುರಿತು ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ತಪ್ಪಿತಸ್ಥರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾತಿ ವೈಷಮ್ಯ ಇನ್ನೂ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿರುವುದು ದುರದೃಷ್ಟಕರ. ಇಂಥ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಒಕ್ಕೊರಲಿನಿಂದ ವಿರೋಧಿಸಬೇಕು.

A video of a Dalit man being thrashed paraded naked and tied to a pole allegedly by upper caste villagers for entering a temple in Gundlupet near Veeranapura Gate on Mysuru-Ooty Road had gone viral on the social media platform.
As per the sources, the incident occurred on June 3 and the victim, aged around 35, is under trauma and is currently undergoing treatment at St Mary’s Psychiatric, De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Mysuru.
