New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah will be holding a parley of meetings with BJP state chiefs and general secretaries, begining today to discuss internal polls.
As of now the main question before the party is who will continue to lead the party now that Amit Shah has been given the home ministry in the newly-elected cabinet. Though Shah’s tenure as BJP president had ended earlier this year, he was asked to continue for the national election.
Sources have hinted that Amit Shah will continue as BJP president for at least six more months, during which the party’s internal elections will be held, sources say.
A final decision in this regard will be taken during the three-day meetings convened by Shah, they said.
Amit Shah, 54, is credited with the BJP’s spectacular 300-plus tally on its own, way above the majority mark of 272 in the Lok Sabha.
Known to be a master at organizational planning, he is also seen as the man who has enabled the BJP’s growth in states like Bengal where the party had negligible presence just a few years ago.
