New Delhi: IPS officer Samant Goel will replace Anil Dhasamana as the chief of India’s external spy agency, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). Apart from Goel, the government on Wednesday appointed Arvind Kumar as the Director of Intelligence Bureau.
Both are Indian Police Service officers of 1984 batch.
Prior to his appointment as R&AW chief, Goel was heading operations for the external intelligence agency and had played a pivotal role in planning the Balakot air strikes and 2016 surgical strikes.
Arvind Kumar has been closely involved in tackling left-wing extremism at the Intelligence Bureau. He is holding charge as special director Kashmir at the intelligence agency.
