The deceased woman is identified as Ratnavati G Shetty (80), a resident of fifth cross near Subramanya temple.  The incident came to light on Friday night and the corpse is in a putrefied state. The police suspect the murder might have occurred at least four days ago.

According to the information provided to the police by Suprabha, daughter of the deceased, she presumes that the murder might have taken place between 3 pm of July 2 and 8.30 pm of July 5 when the victim was sleeping in the bedroom of her house.
