Assailants murder city bus owner

Udupi: Two men brutally hacked to death owner of a private city bus in the city at Dhoopadakatte near Perdoor. The victim is identified as Prashant Poojary, owner of Vaishnavi city bus as well as worked as a conductor in the bus.

Late on Thursday night, two strangers entered Mr Poojary’s house and spoke with him for a long time. Eventually, the chat turned into an argument culminating with  Prashanth being hacked to death using lethal weapons by the two strangers. Hearing the screams, the wife of the deceased came rushing only to find her grievously injured husband while the assailants had made good their escape.

Hiriyadka police have visited the location and are conducting investigation. The murder must be connected with cricket betting, suspect the police.

The deceased was working as a conductor in the city bus since many years and had bought a bus recently and was working as a conductor in the same bus. The victim had very good rapport with everyone in the vicinity of city bus stand and it is said that he preferred to remain unto himself not mixing readily with others.

Meanwhile, the murder has shocked city bus employees and the City Bus Employees’ Association has urged the police to apprehend the culprits at the earliest.
