Cattle trafficking attempt through an ice cream vehicle foiled; cattle rescued

Bantwal: Three cows being transported illegally in a Ashok Leyland mini goods vehicle were rescued after the vehicle was intercepted by police SI Yellappa and personnel near Salethoor junction, Kolnad village on Wednesday, Jul 17.
The mini goods vehicle coloured yellow and blue with Amul Ice Cream was asked to stop by the cops, but the driver of the vehicle sped on. He later, stopped the vehicle at Kattathila Gopalakrishna Math, in Kolnad village and the driver and another suspect in the vehicle made good their escape.
The cops found two brown cows and a male black calf tied in the rear of the vehicle. There is suspicion that the accused had stolen the animals and were transporting them for slaughter towards Kerala.
Vitla police station has registered a case in this connection.
