Nitte Arbi falls: Youth washed away

Karkala: A youth who had gone on outing with his friends was washed away by the waters at Arbi falls on Thursday and is yet to be found. The missing youth is identified as Sudesh (26), son of Krishna Moolya, a resident of Kedinje Abbanadka of Nandalike village. He was an electrician by profession.
Incident synopsis
Four friends identified as Sudesh, Bharat Poojary, Rakesh and Santosh went to Arbi falls as it was a holiday on Thursday. At location, while they were enjoying the setting, Bharat and Sudesh accidentally slipped and fell into the water. Bharat, who knew swimming surfaced while Sudesh went missing. Although Bharat attempted to rescue Sudesh, it was for no avail.
Missing
The incident occurred at 2:30 pm in the afternoon on Thursday but Sudesh was not found even until the night. The search was conducted by the police and the fire service personnel. Since the water level of Shambhavi river is high flowing with all might, it has hindered the search operations.
No safety measures
On holidays, many tourists come to visit the beauty of the waterfalls located 9 m from Karkala taluk. But there are no basic facilities, or barricade or any sought of safety measures installed here. However, there is a sign that warns the visitor from entering into the water.
