Former Andhra Pradesh Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao commits suicide

Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker and TDP leader Kodela Siva Prasada committed suicide by hanging himself at his Hyderabad residence on Monday morning. He was 72.

Kodela and his family were accused of corruption and financial irregularities. Several cases of corruption were registered against his son and daughter after Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP came to the power. Kodela was also accused of stealing of furniture from Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

Kodela was a six-time MLA elected from Narsaraopet five times and Sattenapalli in 2014 to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. He served as the Speaker from 2014 till 2019 after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter.
