Retired police sub-inspector dies in accident

Brahmavar: A road accident which happened near Uppoor here on Tuesday September 17 has claimed the life of Sheena Billava (65), retired sub-inspector of Brahmavar police station. He was had been decorated with the President’s medal for meritorious service and is survived by wife and two daughters.
Sheena was riding his motorcycle along NH 66 near Jathabettu Cross at Uppoor village when another motor bike which came from behind knocked him down. Sheena suffered grievous injuries in the accident and later breathed his last at a hospital in Udupi on the same night.
Son of Soora Poojary and Tunga from Koni in Kundapur, Sheena joined police service in 1975 at Kadri Mangaluru police station and had served in a number of police stations including as circle inspector’s office at Brahmavar. He retired as SI of Brahmavar police station.
Billava had been honoured with the President’s police service medal in 2013 and was felicitated by various organizations and institutions. Post his retirement he settled down in Aroor and was actively involved with social service initiatives.
