Konkan Rail celebrates 29th Foundation Day

Mangaluru/Mumbai:Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), which operates a 760-kilometre network from Roha in Maharashtra to Mangaluru in Karnataka, celebrated its 29th Foundation Day on Tuesday.

In a statement, KRCL said it had achieved a net profit of Rs 102 crore for financial year 2018-19 while its turnover during this period was Rs 2,898 crore, which included project turnover of Rs 1,561 crore and operating turnover of Rs 1,264 crore.

It added that KRCL had spent Rs 85.35 crore in the past five years to build passenger amenities, as well as amenities in Goa with Rs 11.80 crore sanctioned from the MPLAD scheme.

“The doubling of the 46 km stretch RohaVeer section is in progress and will be completed by March 2020. Work on new stations at Indapur, Goregoan Road, Sape Wamane, Kalbani, Kadwai, Verawali, Kharepatan, Achirne, Mirjan, Innanje as well eight loop lines is in progress and likely to be finished by March 2020,” it added.

The electrification of its entire route is likely to be completed by March 2021 at a cost of Rs 1100 crore, the KRCL statement said, adding that Madgaon, Karmali and Thivim stations will be upgraded, and a sum of Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned.
