Udupi: The Mass India NGO Mahiti Seva Samithi Udupi District has sought a CBI inquiry into the suspicious death of Assistant Parish Priest of Shirva Church Fr Mahesh D’Souza.
Addressing a press meet here Mass India, Udupi, President G A Koteyar informed that a protest will be staged in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office if the case is not handed over to CBI for a thorough and fair inquiry.
Koteyar said that he along with his organisation members had already submitted a memorandum in this regard to the superintendent of police.
Expressing doubt over his death, Kotekar said that it was hard to believe that a mentally sound person like Fr D’Souza, who was a genuine social activist and respected by all, would commit suicide due to depression. “An attempt has been made to close the case as unnatural death,” he alleged.
