Blindfold skating: Hubballi girl earns a spot in Guinness Book

Hubballi: A class 7 girl student from Hubballi rolled her way into the Guinness Book of World Records in blindfold skating category.
Ojal Nalavade, 12, a student of JSS Sri Manjunatheshwara Central School covered a distance of 400 metres in 51.25 seconds, skating blindfolded to become the fastest woman blindfolded skater in the world.
Guinness World Records observer Victor Fenes announced Ojal the fastest woman blindfolded skater in the world in the 400 metres category and presented the certificate to her. “This is the first Guinness record for fastest blindfolded skating in the female category,” he said.
Speaking to media persons, an ecstatic Ojal thanked her parents, coach and family members for their support. I will outdo my performances in the coming days, she said.
Akshay Suryawanshi, skating coach of Ojal, said she has been practising early in the morning for many days. “Skating fast with blindfold is a rarity. She has achieved it with determination and hard work,” he said
