‘Tourism dept sanction Rs 50 lakh for Urwa Mariamma temple dvpt’

Mangaluru: MLA Vedavyas Kamath has informed that Rs 50 lakhs has been sanctioned from the tourism department, to provide basic amenities to the ancient Sri Mariamma Temple, Urwa.

In a recent press conference, Kamath had said, “The tourism department has decided to sanction funds towards basic amenities at tourist spots for the year 2019-20, and Sri Urwa Mariamma Temple has been selected. Rs 25 lakhs will be sanctioned under the Phase I”

He further added, “The BJP will put in all efforts towards transforming the city into a tourist hub. As per the current plan we have decided to develop places like Sultan Battery, Bengre and other places that come under my (Mangaluru South) constituency. I’ll have another round of discussion at the government level.”

He also assured, “There are several ancient temples like Mariamma temple in the district along with other tourist spots. All these places will be developed.
