New Delhi: Clashes erupted between police and a violent crowd at the Seelampur area of Delhi protesting the amendment to the Citizenship Act, following closely after the one at the Jamia Millia Islamia campus.
Police threw teargas at the almost 1000 strong crowd which had thrown glass bottles and stones at them before. Locals allege that about 10-20 protestors vandalised a school bus after which the police started their action. Protestors also vandalised a DTC bus and a private bus.
As a result of the clashes, Seemalpur and Gokulpuri metro stations gates were closed by DMRC.
Once the situation was got under control, all entry and exit gates at Seelampur metro station, which were closed in view of violence that ensued following protests were opened.
