Karnataka pilgrims stranded in Iraq, police arrests travel agency owner

Bengaluru: Around fifty-four pilgrims from Karnataka were stranded in Iraq allegedly after their tour operator abandoned them midway.

As per reports, 10 people out of 54 people who were stranded in Iraq for 15 days, returned to Bengaluru with the help of State Minority Commission on Thursday, December 27.

The accused Faheem Basha, (50), owns Al Fazil Tours and Travel located at Cubbonpet Main Road in the city. Despite having collected Rs 65,000 from each of the pilgrims, for the religious tour, Basha reportedly did not make provision for their return tickets, accommodation, and food.

A senior police officer from Halasuru Gate Police station said, ” The chairman of the State Minority Commission, Abdul Azeem filed a complaint in this regard on Wednesday. We have raided the travel agency and arrested Basha.”
