Govt to create awareness campaign for mass marriage across state: Kota Srinivas Poojary

Byndoor: State Muzrai Minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary has launched special vehicle ‘Saptapadi Ratha’ for the awareness campaign of mass marriages across the state on Thursday, February 12 at Mookambika Temple, Kolluru.

“Mass marriages will be held across the state in as many as 100 A grade temples under Muzrai department on April 26. The ambassadors of the event, Actor Yash and writer Sudha Murthy. They will be lending their voice and visual clippings about the mass marriage,” Poojary said.

“We need to create awareness among people on mass marriages. Workshops will be held in districts as a part of the awareness campaign,” he added.

Speaking about the financial aid to the bride and groom who will be taking the part in weddings, Poojary said, ” There is no shortfall of the fund to organize the mass marriages. To buy the new clothes, the bride will receive Rs. 10,000 and groom will receive Rs. 5,000. In addition to this, the bride will receive Rs. 40,000 to buy Mangalasutra bonds worth Rs. 10,000 from the revenue department.”

“The social welfare department will procure a bond worth Rs. 50,000 to the couple from SC/ST communities,” he added.

He said that the organizers should take help from all the elected representatives, MPs and MLAs in the constituencies.

“Religious heads and Mutt seers will also take part in the mass wedding,” he said.
