Mangaluru: An ambulance driver covered a distance of 318 kilometers between Bengaluru from Subrahmanya in just four hours and thirty minutes for the timely treatment of a patient who had been admitted to a hospital in Kengeri.

The patient, hailing from Bengaluru had come to offer prayers at the Kukke temple here, when he took ill suddenly on March 1. He was admitted to Kengeri hospital with suspected low BP. His family members decided to shift him to a Bengaluru hospital for further treatment on the advice of the doctors.

On the suggestion of locals, the family members sought help from Panchasri Sports Club, which had dedicated an ambulance for public service a few months ago. The ambulance was driven by Padmakumar Nayarkere, who covered the distance, in four hours and thirty minutes. In normal circumstances, it takes around six hours.

Padmakumar’s feat has been applauded by many on social media.
