Mangaluru: The ‘Meet the Press’ programme was held at press club here on Friday, March 20.
Speaking at the event Dakshina Kannada Deputy commissioner Sindhu P Rupesh stressed why social distancing is necessary in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
The DC said that more than 1000 people have been placed under home quarantine as of yesterday and advised all of them to follow it compulsorily. She said that the district administration is keeping a track of all COVID-19 suspects despite the difficulty involved in it. The mantras to staying safe amid the outbreak are self-isolate, quarantine, and avoid unnecessary travel, she said.
She urged public co-operation to tackle the coronavirus and aksed people to adhere to the home quarantine guidelines given with complete seriousness.
“Postpone your hospital visits unless it is an emergency. No positive cases have been detected in the district so far. If any positive cases are found in the district, we will look for total isolation facility and medical preparedness,” she said.
