Mangaluru: Stressing on the cases of coronavirus in Kasaragod when compared to the whole of Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada BJP opined that the pandemic must not be allowed to spread to the district due to failure of Kerala government.

“There are around 100 COVID19 cases in Karnataka. But,Kasaragod District of Kerala alone has 100+ cases and half of patients in Mangalore are from Kasaragod.

We can’t let this Pandemic spread to Dakshina Kannada due to the failure of @vijayanpinarayi. #SaveKarnataka,” it tweeted.

The #SaveKarnataka has been trending on Twitter with netizens supporting the state government decision to seal its borders with the neighbouring district.

Local MLAs Dr Bharath Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath also took to Twitter to question Kasaragod’s dependence on Mangaluru for healthcare facilities to its residents while Kerala CM Vijayan boasts about the healthcare facilities in the state. It maybe recalled that Vijayan had recently invited Yogi Adityanath to visit Kerala to learn how to run hospitals effectively.

Attn @vijayanpinarayi , While your party was boasting about healthcare facilities in your state, why are U approaching Court now to get your patients treated in Mangalore? Admit that U have failed miserably to provide healthcare facilities in Kerala! #SaveKarnataka. tweeted Bharath Shetty.

Taking to Twitter Vedavyas Kamath said: “One of the Basic Facility for citizens is Health care and people of Kasargod rely on Mangalore for it. @vijayanpinarayi. What kind of development is your’s then which u boast. No,we will not allow Borders to open what so ever. #SaveKarnatakaFromPinarayI.

With over 100 Covid 19 cases, Kasaragod has been declared as a hotspot for coronavirus. The district is the worst affected and number of fresh cases is rising by the day.

Meanwhile, residents of Kasaragod too have started a movement demanding union territory status alleging lack of developmental works in the district by Kerala government.
