Bengaluru: Actress Sharmiela Mandre and another person met with injuries in a road accident here on Saturday early morning.

According to the traffic police, they rushed to the accident spot after getting information regarding the road accident at Vasanth Nagar in Central Business District (CBD). They rushed to the spot and found that the car had rammed against the pillar of the railway underbridge.

As per the traffic police a person who claimed to be driving the car said that his friend sustained injuries in the accident but did not reveal their names. He was not even willing to disclose his name and urged police not to register a case. The man however said left when the police told that he will be detained for not disclosing the facts.

Meanwhile police received information from Fortis Hospital that two persons identified as Sharmiela Mandre, 33, and Lokesh Vasanth, 35 had reportedly met with an accident at JP Nagar in South Bengaluru and were admitted to the hospital. The doctors suspected that the duo was under influence of alcohol.

The police are clueless on how the car hit the pillars in underbridge and also if any accident took place at JP Nagar. Also they said that neither Mandre nor Lokesh had any kind of permission to be driving around during the lockdown period. The police believe that Mandre and her male friend might have concoted a story to mislead the police investigation.

High Grounds Traffic police station registered a case and seized the Jaguar car bearing registration number KA-51-MJ-2481.

Mandre and Lokesh took discharge from Fortis hospital stating that they will take further treatment from their family doctors. The police are now searching for them.
