Covid-19: How to properly clean and disinfect your phone

We are on our phones for several hours a day, and it is said that coronavirus may be able to survive on some surfaces for up to nine days which includes our phone. Well, your phone won’t give you coronavirus, but it is always better to clean it anyway.
Here we tell you how to clean and disinfect your smart phone
- Never use rubbing alcohol to clean your phone as it can strip the oleophobic and hydrophobic coatings that keep oil and water from damaging your display and other ports.
- It is always better to use disinfectant wipes that contain 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean your phone screen.
- For disinfecting your phone, dampen the corner with a small amount of distilled water/disinfectant and wipe the front and back of your phone gently without too much pressure. Also avoid excessive wiping.
- If you use cases or cover on your phone, then disinfect them as well as they tend to capture a lot of dirt and germs. Wipe it clean and if it’s made of safe-to-wash materials like TPU/silicone and hard plastic, give the case a good rinse in warm water and let it air dry.
- Since the devices can collect germs, avoid putting your phone on public surfaces. Also try to use a hands-free headset to minimise the device’s exposure to your face.
