Customs, DRI, GST depts distribute PPE kits to healthcare workers of Wenlock Hospital

Mangaluru: The commissioner of Central GST & Central Excise, Imamuddin Ahmad I R S accompanied by officers of Mangaluru Central GST Commissionerate, Customs, DRI, DGGI, Audit, SEZ and the retired officers of CBIC from Mangaluru, under the aegis of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, Karnataka COVID-19 group came together on Friday, April 10 to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the healthcare providers of the city’s Wenlock Hospital amid the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak, as part of their social responsibility.

The commissioner underlined that the nation is reeling with the outbreak of COVID-19 and expressed gratitude towards all the medical professionals whose relentless work in saving millions of lives.

The officers, under the guidance and active involvement of Baswaraj Nalegave, commissioner of Customs and Imamuddin Ahmad, commissioner of Central Excise & Central Tax aggregated the voluntary donations from all the officers to the tune of Rs 4.5 lac till date, with which various activities beneficial to the society, such as dry ration kit distribution to the needy and donation of PPEs and medical safety gear to the healthcare frontline fighters are being carried out.

As a token of gratitude for the service being rendered, the commissioner of central GST handed over 200 PPEs to Wenlock District Hospital authorities.
