Ambedkar Jayanti is observed on April 14 every year to commemorate the birth of Bhimrao Ambedkar. BR Ambedkar not only framed the constitution but also played an important role in the formation of the country’s largest bank, the Reserve Bank of India. The Reserve Bank of India runs on guidelines and ideas formed by Ambedkar.
Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh into a Dalit family. As a child, he saw there was discrimination between Dalit children and other children.
In 1956, he started the social and political movement Dalit Buddhist Movement and millions of Dalit people of India participated in it. In 1990, BR Ambedkar was conferred with the Bharat Ratna.
This year marks his 129th birth anniversary. Although, every year, crores of people participate in the Bhim Jayanti celebrations this year, Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, people will observe the day from their homes.
