Mangaluru: Seven containment zones have been established in the Dakshina Kannada district.
The zones are:
Bantwal taluk – Sajinapadu village and Tumbe village.
Belathangady taluk – Janata colony and Karaya village.
Mangaluru taluk – Smart Planet at Thokkotu.
Puttur taluk – Sampya mane.
Sullia taluk – Ajjavar village.
An ‘Incident Commander’ having magisterial powers has been appointed in these containment zones. The commander would head a team of police and health officials to ensure there are no lockdown violations in the zones.
In the case of the containment zones in the district mentioned above, the Incident Commanders will be the tahsildars of the respective talukas.
Earlier while chairing a meeting with officials Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa stated that easing of restrictions will not be permitted in COVID-19 affected areas in the state which have been declared as containment zones. Residents within these zones would not be allowed to come out of their homes and essential items would be supplied to them at their doorsteps.
