Bengaluru: The Additional Commissioner for Public Instruction, Dharwad Major Siddalingayya S Hiremath, in a letter to the principal secretary, primary and secondary education has proposed for the elimination of the SSLC examination of the year 2019-20.
Cancel the exam and instead declare results based on a grading system which will take into account the marks students obtained in various examinations during the academic year, Siddalingayya suggested.
In the meeting of department officials at Dharwad division, it was discussed that it would be difficult to arrange transport and maintain social distance in examination centres as there are more than 700 centres and above 2.6 lakh students.
Each centre has about 350-400 students appearing, and it is impossible to increase the number of examination centre in this situation.
The education department has been postponing the SSLC and 2nd PUC exams as lockdown is enforced in the country to control the spread of Coronavirus.
