Udupi: District blood banks facing shortages

Team Udayavani, Apr 24, 2020, 12:16 PM IST

Udupi: Since the beginning of the lockdown, all blood donation camps in the district have been halted, leading to reduced collections at blood banks.

Many camps were organised in a month by various entities across the district, however, in the past month, the number of such collections has fallen 60 per cent.

To prevent further fall in blood units at the blood banks, interested donors will be allowed to visit the blood bank at the district hospital here and Manipal for blood donation.

Donors will be issued a pass for this purpose. The pass will be sent on their WhatsApp number.

Donors can contact the Udupi district hospital’s blood bank on the number 08202-531633 for registration and the pass will be sent soon after.
