Karnataka: Transport Dept to provide Rs 30 lakhs insurance to bus drivers and conductors

Bengaluru: State’s Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Laxman Savadi stated that all drivers and conductors working under the Transport Department will be provided with an insurance cover of Rs 30 lakhs while operating during the COVID-19 lockdown.

In an official notification, he stated that drivers and conductors’ family will be compensated the Rs 30 lakhs in case of death of the worker due to COVID-19.

Public transport buses will be operational from Tuesday, May 19. Drivers and conductors will have to mandatorily use sanitizers and wear facemasks and social distancing too must be maintained at all times in the buses, the notification added.
