No need to seal down KMC, says DC after girl admitted for cancer treatment tests COVID-19 +ve

Udupi: In the backdrop of a 17-year-old girl, undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital in Manipal testing positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, May 17 Udupi DC G Jagadeesha said that the hospital was following all safety protocols.
The girl had arrived in Udupi from Chitradurga on May 16 for cancer treatment at KMC hospital. She did not show any symptoms of coronavirus.
The DC further added that the COVID-19 treatment of the girl will be a challenging task as she is also suffering from cancer. “We have spoken to Chitradurga DC and contact tracing has begun,” he said.
He further added that there was no need to seal down KMC hospital or quarantine the doctors and other medicos who attended to the girl as all the hospital staff were practising the safety protocols while attending the patient.
On May 19, a total of 5 persons, including this girl tested positive for coronavirus in the district.
