Jodhpur: Amid the global outrage over the death of George Floyd, a similar incident is said to have occured in Jodhpur where cops allegedly pinned down a man and pressed their knees against his neck following a confrontation over not wearing a face mask.

George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died after being arrested by the police outside a shop in Minneapolis in the US on May 25. Footage showed a white officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Floyd’s neck for several minutes while he was pinned to the floor. He was pronounced dead later in the hospital, triggering widespread protests across the US.

In the Jodhpur instance, which took place on Thursday the man, identified as Mukesh Kumar Prajapat attacked the police after being confronted for roaming on the streets without wearing a mask.

According to the police a scuffle broke out between the officers and Mukesh after the latter attacked them and tore their uniform when they were issuing a challan to him.

In the video that went viral, two police officers are seen holding Mukesh’s legs while another cop is pressing his knee on Mukesh’s neck. A huge crowd gathered at the spot.

An FIR has been lodged against Mukesh and action is being initiated against Prajapat under the Epidemic Act.
