Chintu Ka Birthday is a movie written and directed by Decanshu Kumar and Satyanshu Singh. This movie is about an Indian family who is stuck in Iraq at the time of Saddam’s fall who had been to Iraq on an illegal visa and get stranded there.

5-year-old Chintu wants to celebrate his birthday and does not want to miss it.  As the family prepares to celebrate the 6th birthday of their beloved child, two army officers enter the house after an explosion, and the house members get trapped inside their home in the hands of US officers. Will the family celebrate the birthday? One has to watch the movie to know this.

When it comes to performances, the movie has only 10 actors in the film and the casting takes the film to another level. Vinay Pathak as Madan Tiwary who is been to Iraq as a water purifier salesman is brilliant in the movie. His character has pain, the struggle of an Indian man abroad, and also his eagerness to help others is compelling.

Vendant Chibber as Chintu puts a kind and warm smile on your face by the time you finish the movie. We loved his performance and his narration of how the family get trapped in Iraq. His performance reminded us of Roman Griffin Davis (as Jojo Betzler) from Jojo Rabbit. All the other actors have given brilliant performance in the movie.

The film was completed back in 2018 and had to wait for nearly 2 years to reach the audience. Thanks to the OTT platforms which enabled such creative content directly to the audience.

The writing of the movie by Devanshu Kumar and Satyanshu Singh is crisp and sharp. Even though the concept of the movie is simple, the screenplay by the duo keeps the audience engaging.

Big credit to the editor Charu Shree Roy for keeping this movie under 84 minutes. The movie does not have any songs but has some soothing background music.

We liked the cinematography by Siddharth Diwan who ensured to keep the visuals engaging despite the entire movie is shot inside 4 walls except for 2-3 scenes.

The sound effects also play a huge roll in the film. The grim sound of explosions in the background gives a sense of tension to the cinema and gives an idea to the audience what kind of condition the house inmates might me in during the war.

Chintu Ka Birthday story touches serious issues such as Indians stranded abroad and people trapped inside their homes during the war.

In an age of films that are backed by some powerful content, Chintu Ka Birthday takes the audience to a whole new world.

This is probably one of the best movies available on Zee5 and ‘Chintu Ka Birthday’ is a celebration of original content that you must attend.
