Lockdown norms violated at ‘Pada Puja’ ceremony held for MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan

Chamrajpet: In blatant violation of lockdown norms, supporters of Chamrajpet MLA Zameer Ahmad Khan held a function at Kalyana Mantapa Hall at Kempegowda Nagar here to felicitate the former minister on Sunday.

As the MLA has been helping perform the last rites of Covid vistims, his supporters decided to hold a ‘Pada Puja’ ceremony for him.

In a video of the incident which has gone viral, Zameer Khan is seen seated on a chair while his supporters wash his feet and pay him floral tribute. Norms such as social distancing were blatantly violated at the event at a time when  the state is seeing a spurt of coronavirus cases.

The MLA has come in for criticism for violating the norms. However it is to be seen if the police will book him and his supporters under relevant sections.

It is gathered that no complaint has been filed in the incident so far.

Notably, Zameer Ahmed has been embroiled in other controversies too since the lockdown was implemented.
